The hype of voice in 2017 still continues

What an fascinating Tuesday May 10th 2017, right with beginning of Microsoft Build 2017. The hype and peak of voice in 2017 still continues – really exciting times.

Amazon as market leader

Amazon is still leading with voice as a platform and continued to strenghten their position in the market of smart home by releasing Amazon EchoShow for US$230.

With the announcement came new SDK possibilities build in, also with calling and messaging for the new EchoShow.

Microsoft is following with Cortana

Short before the Amazon announcement Microsoft announced voice based personal assistant with Harman Kardon as a competitor to Amazon Echo. Furthermore Microsoft has plans to turn Windows 10 PCs into Amazon Echo competitors, what they call HomeHub.

What about Apple and Siri?

I’ve observed further market rumors about Apple, that they might release a home speaker integrated with Siri at WWDC next month – but as always not confirmed, just rumors. WWDC will take place June 5-9, 2017 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, USA.

And Google Home?

Nothing specific, just rumors about Google published, and then pulled, an I/O action for Google Home. I don’t expect much, but you’ll never know. The upcoming Google I/O will take place May 17-19 at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View, California. I’ll watch the keynote at DB Skydeck powered by DBSystel with other people who are interested. Maybe you’d like to join the meetup I/O Extended 2017 Frankfurt. #RheinMainRocks

Want to add something? I really love to hear, please let me know.

Cheers,

Patrick
